Hong Kong
We had 3 busy days in Hong Kong. We arrived 6 hours later then we were expecting as when we went to check in at Jo'burg airport we found out that we had been moved to the later flight, we weren't very impressed but as the earlier flight was over booked by over 50 people there wasn't any chance of getting on that flight. Anyway we checked in and spent 4 hours in the BA lounge, we weren't supposed to be on there but the BA lady took pity on us and allowed us it. We arrived in HK at about lunch time and then by the time we arrived at the hotel it was about 3pm, we explored the local area and relaxed. We stayed on Lantau Island (the same Island as the Airport but on the other side), which was very quiet and quite a contrast to Hong Kong City which we appreciated.
We spent 1 day exploring HK Island and Kawloon, the highlights were taking the Tram to the Peak and then walking back down the Mountain, it was a nice view, although the visable pollution was off putting; in the evening we saw the laser and light show and visited the Temple Street Markets, you can buy almost anything at the markets.
The second day we visited Hong Kong Disneyland, which is alot smaller then Magic Kingdom at Disney World or Disneyland. Being the week before Christmas it was quite busy so we didn't get to go on alot of rides, we did however get to ride Space Mountain at least 5 times each and on the Buzz Lightyear Astroblaster 3 times each. Disneyland was an interesting mix of Western and Asian Cultures, the food places served Asian Food, the parade was in a mixture of Chinese and English (When the Characters spoke it was in Chinese and the songs were all in English).
It was good to go to Disneyland and to see what it was like, the latest technology made the Buzz Lightyear Ride better in Disneyland then Disney World also the Animals on the Jungle Cruise were more lifelike, however I don't think I will visit again, Disney World and Disneyland offer more.
On leaving Hong Kong we had a welcome surprise, we checked into our flight and then spent 2 hours sitting around the airport and then when we went to get onto the flight our tickets weren't working - we had been upgraded to Business class, which was a nice surprise although the flight wasn't really long enough to take advantage of it.
