Overland tour - Cape Town to Vic Falls to Johannesburg

Well our last overland tour is finished. It was an awesome experience, lots of different experiences. Over 6600km in 24 days so there were some quie long days. However we got to visit Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe and then back to South Africa.

Some of the highlights were:
* doing a 2 day canoeing trip down the Orange River,
* seeing Fish River Canyon, the Sand Dunes of Sossusvlei,
* Sandboarding in Swakopund,
* seeing bushman paintings,
* seeing black Rhinos at a waterhole in Etosha National Park,
* going on a Mekoro trip on the Okavango Delta,
* then doing a scenic flight over the delta,
* seeing an Elephant family in Chbe National Park,
* seeing Victoria Falls - it is low water season so all the different parts of the falls weren't flowing but it was still amazing,
* Helecopter flight over the falls,
* For Dave an Elephant Back Safari and rafting down the Zambezi river
* for me doing a horse riding safari
* going Rhino tracking in Matopo National Park (Zimbabwe) and getting within 2 metres(for me), 3 metres(for Dave) of a family of White Rhinos.
We went with Drifters which was good they seemed more focused on the environment and not giving us the same experience as the standard overland trips, we spent 2 nights on the Namib Desert at an old farm they have turned into a conservation area, which was quite interesting.
It was some times hard travelling with the group for such a long period. There were 12 people in total and 7 of the group spoke German so often there would be discussions in German and we would have no idea what was happening. However we got on pretty well with the rest of the group. Some of the days were quite long and we averaged about 6 hours sleep when we were camping so many of the long days of travel were spent sleeping, playing cards, or reading.

We now have 4 days in Jo'burg to relax and do a bit of sightseeing the we start the journey home - Hong Kong, Singapore for Christmas and then home on 1st of January.
