Denali National Park

Well we have been in Alaska for 3 days now and we have been very busy. In Anchorage we did a bit of shopping before going to a lookout for views of Cook Inlet, on the way there we saw a couple of moose eating by the roadside.
Once we got to Denali we stayed at the Denali Mountain Morning Hostel in a log cabin which was very nice, at the hostel we ran into a few Aussies including a girl, Susan who studied at ANU at the same time as us and lived at Fenner so it turned out we knew a few people in common.

In Denali we did a few walks including walking up Mount Healy and going on a Shuttle Bus into the park. While on the shuttle bus we saw a mother grizzly bear and 2 cubs, dall sheep and caribou. Dave also went rafting, while I went to the Sled Dog Kennels for their Sled Dog Display. Last night we went on a flightseeing tour for views of Mount McKinley, which was fantastic, it was a bit cloudy and windy so we couldn't get too close because of turbulance but the views were still amazing. We also got to see a few glaciers but they were a bit hard to spot as most things were covered in Snow. We also saw 2 flocks of Dall Sheep - 1 rams and 1 ewes and some Caribou. The pilot also tried to find a bear and we followed bear tracks looking for one but we were unable to find one. This was definately the highlight of our trip so far, the pilot has lived in the area for 30 years so knew the area very well and where to look for things. The plane was a small 4 seater Cessena which was a bit scary at first especially going through turbulance however once we were in clear air everything was OK. The views were spectacular and everything was so clear, so hopefully the photos will turn out and I will be able to get some up on the net.
